Great gigs and amazing hospitality, 10 days of music, meeting people and English breakfasts. I Wish I Knew would like to thank all involved in making our tour such a success.
Pictures are coming up soon.
De Bestuiving Festival
Two great shows at the De Bestuiving Festival this weekend, where we shared the podium with a variety of very talented bands. Many thanks to all for a great night, especially Pollination Promotions.
EP Recording, UK Tour and more recording for ICG Records
It's been a little quiet over the past months, but that's not been because I Wish I Knew hasn't been doing anything. We wrote a lot of new songs, tried them out at our few shows and are currently preparing to head back into the studio. The upcoming months will be very busy and you will be hearing much more from us... early March we will start by recording our latest work and hope to have the EP ready for our second UK-Tour, planned for the period April 30th to May 8th.
A few months ago we met the guys from ICG Records and when Mike Smith found out we were planning a UK Tour he asked us to come over to Bristol and record a few songs. We are very honoured and near the end of our tour will be recording at Dave Lewis’s Lakeside Studio in Bristol.
We are very excited about all of this and hope to see you soon at one of our shows. A month before the UK Tour we will also perform at the prestigious double-festival De Bestuiving in Utrecht and Tilburg, organised by Pollination Band Promotions.
A lot of things are happening and we are looking forward to all of it!
Review acoustic show at Cafe ˝ Watt, Rotterdam (translation below)
- JvV
A vulnerable and mysterious evening
For I Wish I Knew the 31st of January was also a very special evening at the ˝ Watt. For the first time in years they played and acoustic concert which clearly took some getting used to, especially for the drummer who instead of a drumset had to make do with a variety of percussion instruments. He pulled it off nicely. In fact, the band as a whole pulled it off so well that one might wonder why the band doesn't play acoustically more often.
Starting with the first mysterious notes the band managed to set a special atmosphere. It's possible that due to the acoustic setting the frequent changes in the songs where made less justice, but it did give a good insight into the cooperation or antagonism between the guitarists, who took turns being supported by a heavy bass player. The whole was made complete by a bright and cheerful singer. With five seated musicians it was pretty full on the small 1/2 Watt podium, but a pleasure to see due to the clear enjoyment of the musicians and their concentrated playing.

THE TALE
After the initial explorative jammin' years the present line-up set out on March 2007. Within a month the first songs were worked out and the band started playing gigs. Later that year they recorded "Rhetorical Talk" for which a video is still in production.
2008 started off with lots of gigs. The band made it to the semi-finals of Utrecht's largest band contest "The Clash of the Titans" and the CD-single for "Rhetorical Talk" has been in the Top-10 of the Dutch "Like it Live" charts since April.
In the Summer of 2008 I Wish I Knew recorded their debut album “The Bubble Revolution” which was released in September.
Since then they have been doing gigs all over The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany to promote their record and music.
